Blogging Ebook Review: The RoadMap To Becoming A Blogger

By Emily

I finished reading the new blogging ebook I mentioned on Tuesday.  Frankly, I didn’t find The RoadMap To Becoming A Blogger to be nearly as good as Yaro’s first book – The Blog Profits Blueprint

My complaints aren’t major, and The RoadMap is probably still worth reading, but it doesn’t live up to the bar set by its predecessor.

My concerns were:

  1. First of all, the RoadMap, was not written by Yaro, but by his business partner Gideon – probably in a much shorter period of time.
  2. The Roadmap didn’t go into as much detail about how to actually structure a blog.  It gave an overview on the concepts, but was not the meat-and-potatoes detail that I really, really like. :)
  3. The new content/meat-and-potatoes in the Roadmap was good – it focused on social networking and multi-media blogs.  I’m sure this is good information and I’m an old-fogey because I haven’t caught the wave.  However, I am still at the point with this blog where I think I need to focus on building up some written content and putting some really solid articles in place before I go off the deep end learning new technologies.

Boy, I feel like a stick-in-the-mud as I write all this.  It wasn’t a bad book, just not as inspiring TO ME, because it wasn’t quite what I was looking for at this point in my blogging career.

However, maybe you are the fast-on-your feet, technology-lightening, still-young-at-heart type who is excited about these new-fangled technologies.  If so, and you’re looking at incorporating them into your blog, then I would definitely suggest reading The Roadmap – especially the second half!

In a long "aside" comment, before I wrap up, I wanted to disclose that the whole RoadMap ebook publication is a promotion for a $27/month membership site that Yaro and Gideon are creating.  It’s a series of videos (and other resources, I’m sure) teaching you how to blog and incorporating social media.  If that’s your cup of tea – I know some of you REALLY prefer learning through video, rather than through reading or audio courses, then you might want to check out their "Become A Blogger" program.  It’s going up to $47/month after the first week of promotion, I think.

However, don’t discount the information given away in the free ebook.  It’s a well-known marketing strategy to give away a lot of your best "gems" for free to get people interested in your products and services.  They say – "If he’s giving THIS away for FREE, I wonder what I’ll get when I PAY!"  If nothing else, you can learn by watching people launch products like this and pick up their strategies to emulate when it comes time to sell your own products and services.

Good luck!
